Qi Gong
- Friday 9.30-10.30am with Rosey Grandage
An introductory class teaching simple exercises, stretches and meditation techniques. Qi gong is an ancient Chinese system of self-treatment based on the idea that the body is formed of both physical and energetic (qi) aspects. The exercises help to rebalance the body on both levels and to connect with the energy of nature and the world on a wider scale. This is a deep and effective form of self-treatment and relaxation.

Qi Gong and Yoga for Children
- Monday
- 4.15 - 5pm: 6-12 year olds
Yoga is a method of training the body and mind that has been practised for thousands of years. The aim of Yoga is to promote equilibrium in ones life and to benefit our relationships with others. The primary method taught is through the yoga postures or asanas. The objective is to create a strong, flexible body free from disease and a calm focussed mind.
At a time when children are under considerable academic pressure, yoga has much to offer by teaching how to deal with challenging circumstances and how to relax.
Classes start with a gentle warm up routine, followed by a selection of the classic postures and finish with a relaxation or visualisation.
Yoga can be of benefit to people of all ages. The youngest children learn best through stories, games and rhymes. Postures flow into each other throughout the class. Songs are often used in their relaxation and they are not expected to be silent for long. Older children and young people enjoy a longer visualisation and in addition breath awareness and other simple focussing techniques are taught.
